Currently Unemployed Looking to Enhance Employability to Land Promotion

Dear All,

Hope you can help. I am currently out of work and looking of ways to develop in the meantime. I have gained one year's experience as a HR Administrator mainly looking after recruitment, onboarding and training.

I have just submitted my final assignment towards achieving a CIPD Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Human Resource Practice.

I am looking to specialise in employee relations. Please can you advise how I can enhance my competences to land a promotion while I am unemployed? I have been thinking of working towards the CIPD Intermediate Award in Employment Law. What do you think? All suggestions welcome.

Thank you!

  • You can't teach experience and with employee relations i feel experience is paramount. Keep applying for job within HR and hopefully you will get an interview with a HR professional that can see the potential over the qualification.

As with all job hunts now it does feel like a up hill battle but keep going and it will pay off.

I would also try and find an organisation that has the approach you feel personally comfortable with.. so many organisation have differing approaches to employee relations you need to match.
