How much do you use the CIPD Profession Map ?

Hello all,

I'm currently working towards my Level 5 Certificate in HRM and the CIPD Professional Map has come up for consideration and comment.

I've worked in HR for ten years and never used or referred to it but having had a look at it now I can appreciate it is potentially a useful tool for individual CPD purposes and may be for organisations to adopt for performance management of HR teams.

For all its' potential usefulness I'd be interested to know how much, in practice, other HR folk use it.

I've put together a very short survey at the link below. There are four quick questions, no personal data is gathered and I'll share a summary of the results in this forum.

  • As promised, here's a summary of the survey. It wasn't exactly a huge response but from those who did complete there were more (58%) who hadn't used the Profession Map in the last twelve months than had (42%). The main use was for CPD and nobody indicated it was in use as an organisational performance indicator for an HR team. I've closed the survey now and thanks once again to those who responded.
