Development opportunities in my role

Hi all, I’m currently doing a HR support level 3 apprenticeship and have been doing so for the last 8 and a half months. The main scope of my work has been focused around apprenticeships however my job role is due to change as a result of a restructure. My Head of HR has promised I will be able to take on more HR generalist duties but hasn’t outlined specifically what I’ll be doing. I have a few ideas of areas I’d like to gain exposure to such as ER casework for example and was wondering if anybody could share some tips as to how I can put these ideas forward to management to ensure that my development needs are met but still support the needs of the business at the same time? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you
