Feeling disheartened

Hello,

I find it hard to get a first HR Assistant role where I can learn and develop further as a HR Professional.

To aid my career transition I have completed my CIPD Level 3 Certification and am currently completing a number of online courses including HR & Payroll Administration, HR Assistant Training and Employment Law.   I also completed extensive customer service training to aid my interpersonal and interaction skills when dealing with variable situations and issues. In addition I provided HR support as the impartial note taker at a number of disciplinary, grievance and performance management meetings.   I have also been responsible for managing all employee files and record’s both electronic and hard copy, as well has owning the new employee on-boarding, security and DBS processes.

I am sending out 5 CV's per day sometimes.

I feel disheartened and would welcome any advice.

  • Hi Maria thanks for posting and sharing your situation. It sounds like you’ve been working very hard and learning a lot of relevant skills along the way. Are you attending local CIPD branch events? These are a great way to make connections and get chatting to HR professionals. You may also be able to get some careers advice and mentoring through your branch. I’m sure other community members will be along soon to give you some further ideas.
  • Thank you Johanna. Unfortunately I did not attend the London branch events, but this will definitely be something I will do in the near future, and also have just seen that there is a mentee application form on their site. Many thanks again for mentioning this.
