Hi Sharon, are you referring to the layout? Whenever I’ve written a report assignment it’s always been my understanding that reports need a summary and the paragraphs should have subheadings when the topic (or question you are answering changes). You also need to use a numbering system for each section & subheading.

You usually need a contents page at the very beginning, and in some cases an appendix page. I believe the reference section goes right before the appendix.

But the best thing to do is find examples online. Your learning facility may/ or should provide a guide as to what they expect to see.

With all that said, you may find that your writing the contents page, summary/intro, references, appendix after writing the main body of the assignment.
