CIPD level 3 - any other areas as opposed to HR?

Hi there,

I'm just looking for a little advice really, if possible.

I'm currently half way through my cipd level 3. Are there other career routes that I can go down with this as opposed to HR assistant/admin etc?

Are there other areas of work/other industries that a CIPD would benefit?

I've just turned 40 and looking to develop my career but just not sure in what. I thought the CIPD level 3 may reinforce HR would be a good route but I'm just generally unsure.

I work in customer support admin and my main strength is writing. I have lots of experience in customer service and a ex career as cabin crew.

I guess I just would like to know what other areas of work I could look into with a level 3 CIPD as opposed to HR?

Thanks!

  • Hi Karen,

Others may have better input but i would say ... no, not really.

Whilst it could be a nice addition to have on your CV, its not really going to open up doors to other career routes.

People study the CIPD level 3 in HR to break into a HR career or begin a path to progressing within a people related area.

A common theme on this forum is people asking how to land their first HR job whilst studying for CIPD. What they often find is the qualification alone doesn't hold enough weight to break into the industry, the job market is competitive and employers often look for some one who has real life work experience within HR and then the addition of the CIPD level 3 can help tip the scale.

Was it that you thought you wanted to begin a career in HR but no longer want to after beginning your studies ?

What area of work are you hoping to get into ?
