Casino Manager - change of direction

Hello

I have worked in casinos for a little over 10 years and have approximately 5 years experience in management.  I enjoy my job and am eager for the next step, however, I think I might be climbing in slightly the wrong direction.

I am very passionate about L&D and people, which has lead to me looking for possible qualifications in HR and or L&D.  I don't have a degree, but have good educational pedigree - handling exams, dissertations and the study environment is something I am familiar with, although admittedly probably a little out of touch with.

Ultimately I want to add strings to my bow, progress my career and home in on job roles I have a real passion for.  I have looked at the level 3 CIPD qualifications but have a couple of questions - Do I have to do 3 before I do 5?  Also, if I do level 3, would this restrict me to entry level jobs or would my experience in management be considered?  I understand these questions are a little broad, but I am just feeling my way along currently.  Any feedback or ideas would be appreciated.

    Hi Adam

Thanks for posting! Welcome to the community :)

Here's the CIPD web page on finding the right qualification for you, and I'm sure fellow community members will be along soon to help you out. www.cipd.co.uk/.../professional-qualifications

  • Hi Adam, I have just started level 5 at my local college. I never done level 3 and only have a tiny bit of HR admin experience gained whilst working in a previous admin role. I have good qualifications (not at degree level!) and I would recommend you apply for level 5. As recommend before have a look at the CIPD website, its very informative and helpful!
