Looking for some advice...

Hi all,

I'm looking to start a new career path in HR.

I have worked as a retail manager for a high turnover store within a large company for a total of 8 years so I have plenty experience across the field but I want to break away from the retail side of things. I need to look at distance learning as I'm currently working full time.

I have looked at ICS but I'm unsure as to what level to begin with.

Has anyone been in the same situation and can give me some feedback on the route they took?

All advice welcome!

Your best and probably quickest/easiest route into HR would be an internal move in your own company. First by working on people projects and then by a full move. You are a known quantity to them and I think this would be best chance.

If you use the search facilities there are a number of similar threads (actually very similar including retail managers) with varying degrees of success/frustration.

    Good luck

(PS ICS do very reputable HR courses accredited by the CIPD so would be interested in understanding Robeys aversion to them)

  • Do they? I take it back, then. It's been a few years since my association with them. Everything else still applies.
