Restarting my HR career in UK

Hi Everyone,

I have a Post graduation degree in HR from India in 2007 and after that around 8 years of work experience in HR from India. However i have moved to UK permanently now.

I started looking for the HR jobs in London but a lot of time i got rejected because of lack of UK experience. I would like to know what would be the right CIPD course for me which can help me getting back to  work. CIPD Level 3 or CIPD Level 5 or CIPD Level 7? Diploma or Certification?

I have worked in the HR Business partner capacity in my previous roles so am looking for simular role or specialist roles in HR. Can someone advice me on this?

Thanks Neha..

  • Hi Neha

Have you considered trying to join at a HR officer / admin level and then building your UK knowledge that way? I imagine UK vs. India HR is very different with regards to policies / laws so you'll need to develop that before looking at HRBP roles in the UK, but recruiters should be able to see you already have the skills to do admin, HR meetings, general HR work etc. I think if you try going at a more entry/mid level you will easily find a job

    Good luck Neha :)

    Hi Melanie,
Thanks for your reply. I have started applying for few HR officer/admin roles as well but no luck so far. I want to enhance my UK HR knowledge, hence i want to go for CIPD. Could you suggest if i should go for Level 3 or Level 5 CIPD? based on my over all work experience?

Level 5 or 7/ Mostly to familiarise you with UK
