CIPD L7 Optional Unit – D&I or Employment Law?

Hello everyone,

I am in the process of applying for the CIPD Level 7 (People Management) and would appreciate some advice on selecting between Advanced Diversity & Inclusion and Advanced Employment Law as my optional unit.

I have a strong interest in both areas, but I would love to hear from those who have completed these units on which would be most beneficial in practice. My HR experience has been primarily in South Africa, and I want to ensure I choose the unit that will provide the most value as I continue my career in the UK.

Any insights you can share would be greatly appreciated! Thank you Slight smile

  • Both may be seen as valuable to different organisations and how this fits into the type of role you work in.

Ultimately, whatever module you study would not preclude you from gaining a good knowledge of the other.

    Thanks Steven.

Employment law should include a fair amount on D&I
  • Hi Sibongile - I can send you the syllabus detail if that helps you to compare. It's the sort of thing that is good to chat with other learners about once you join a study centre - you generally won't need to decide which one to do before you enrol so that gives you a chance to ask people who have studied it. Let me know if you would like the syllabus. Jackie
