Canada - HR Role Relocation

Hello All,

I am looking for some advice and hope anyone can help.

I am currently 34 years old and a HR Assistant for over 3 years following a career change from being a Paralegal.

I am really struggling with career progression into an HR Advisor and am finding the job market abysmal at the moment and I feel many people are probably in the same boat. For a skill set I have feel I have got, I do struggle to see what employers want. I have always wanted to work abroad and I know the CIPD has dual recognition with a number of countries and Canada has always appealed to me for many reasons.

I was hoping for some advice from someone who has made the jump from the UK to Canada in a HR role and what steps you would advise to hopefully make the change.

I look forward hearing anyone's feedback and hopefully I can start a dialogue.

Thank you for your post! I did a little searching and I found this thread was very helpful to a few others. (+) Is my CIPD qualification/membership recognised in Canada? - Rest of Europe/World - Rest of Europe/World - CIPD Community. Have you looked into what type of visa you would need? Canada may have some kind of reciprocal deal with the UK for young people to work in Canada. Also, it may be helpful to look into our mentoring scheme, but also contact some HR professionals who moved abroad.
