New CIPD Qualification in 2021

Firstly, thank you so much to all the contributors to this forum! I'm looking to move into HR and I've found reading all of the responses and questions, so helpful.

I've run a search and I don't believe this has been asked before. I'm looking to start my CIPD Level 5 qualification shortly, but is it best to wait until the new courses are released in 2021? 

Looking on the CIPD website, the reduced options of just two diploma sized qualifications with a common core, but with blocks of specialist unit choices sound very appealing.

I am on furlough at the moment, so I was hoping to sign up as soon as possible to make the most of my time, but I am now reflecting that it might be best to wait for the new course.

Does anyone know exactly when in 2021 they might be released or could provide any advice?

    I too would like to complete my level 5 in HR and I have decided to put it off for now and to wait until the new version level 5 (from the new CIPD suite of qualifications) gets launched. I have read about these new qualifications on the CIPD website and it says that students will be able to register from 2021 at centres that are offering the new qualifications. Teaching will start in March 2021. It also mentions that after summer 2021 it will not be possible to register to start a current qualification. That's what it currently states. I suppose that may change a bit, if it hasn't yet been finalised. Take a look at the bottom of the web page under the title, 'I'm thinking about studying a CIPD qualification'.

    I did my level 3 CIPD with ICS Learn. I'll check their website every so often next year to see when they switch over to the new CIPD qualifications.

    This is great, thank you so much for that information, really useful!
    It's a tricky one as I'm really keen to get started, and was hoping with the extra time I have on Furlough to have finished a large chunk by March. I need to have a think!

    Yes, I can understand it would be beneficial for you to use the free time you currently have by studying. In my opinion, I really don't think anyone would be at a disadvantage by doing a current CIPD course (compared to an upcoming new course) because they are well-respected, accredited courses. From next year when they get launched, I doubt an employer will ask a job applicant if they did the new style or old style CIPD course as a way of identifying and favouring those with a new-style qualification. An old/current style course should, in theory, be just as valuable. I work in recruitment and I haven't yet been doing it for a year, so another reason why I'm going to wait until next year is to get a bit more experience. I've read that the level 5 is particularly difficult without having had enough experience to be able to refer to and relate to. I am regularly reading CIPD/HR related content to boost my knowledge. I've also started doing some HR-related courses through 'High Speed Training' as a way of leading up to my level 5. I am currently doing their 'Interviewing Skills' course and I plan to do their 'Employment Law' course next.

    Hi, I am doing level 5 with AVADO, I have very little experience in HR so I have to read alot and research. I have 3 more assignments to do to get my diploma, really enjoying it and research and CIPD website is really helpful. Michele
