I need an action plan for my Ultimate Career Goal

Dear All,

I am brand new to HR having started my first role in August 2018. I am a student member of the CIPD and I hope to achieve my Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Human Resource Practice by September 2019.

My ultimate career goal is to become an HR Field Consultant, perhaps specialising in Employment Law, Change Management, etc.

Please can someone advise me on how to create a thorough action plan spanning the next five years? I am an advocate of CPD but I am not sure where to start.

I am not sure how to ultimately become an HR Field Consultant.

Any advice would be hugely appreciated.

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Jenny.

  • In addition (and a generalisation) but generally Interims are qualified and experienced a step or two over the level necessary for the current assignment. People like to hire people who have been there and done that before and probably done more. So its not unusual for people to move into Interim positions later in their careers and being able to draw on a wealth of successful experience.

Particularly true given your desire to work in the strategy field

Of course many people work as FTCs at lower level and call themselves interim's but for me (and no offence meant) thats really a different role.
  • That's a very important point. If you hire an interim, you expect them to to become effective virtually straight away and perform at a high level throughout.
