What is 'professionalism'?

Can anyone help in defining the above 'what is professionalism'?  I need this for my first unit for my level 5 CIPD qualification.

Any help, reference to where i can find this would be so helpful!

  • Surely part of the experience of learning and completing the qualification is about doing the research yourself and looking for the texts that cover the topic. I'd suggest starting with the CIPD Professions Map and looking at what the CIPD defines as professionalism and then maybe look at some other professional bodies (e.g. accountancy bodies) and see how they define it? You should also look in journals for some references to professionalism - you can access some through the CIPD and probably your learning provider as well.
