1 Work experience within HR

Hi,

I currently work in a recruitment role for a recruitment agency. I have recently completed my Level 3 CIPD and Level 5 CIPD at LJMU.

Although i have experience of the recruitment side of HR, i am looking for gain some work experience within a HR department which will allow me more exposure to the generalist side of HR.

I am going back to complete a MA in HRM in September, so i am just looking to gain some more experience. As i work full time i would only be available on a Saturday.

Can anybody help at all?

Hi Melissa,

I can't help with work on Saturday's I'm afraid but a way in might be to do some volunteering using your HR skills and the knowledge you'll be gaining through your MA.

The CIPD facilitate some opportunities, but I'm sure if you look online there'll be others too. www.cipd.co.uk/.../volunteer

Another option might be to approach some 24/7 organisations directly. E.g., if you live near any factories they might have HR people who do weekend shifts.
