Hello, my name is Yasmin and this is my first post, I hope someone can help ️
I enjoyed data analysis in previous HR admin /workforce officer roles, so I took the plunge to up-skill as an analyst in a business intelligence function. However I think it’s almost a bit too data heavy and I would prefer a mix of data/interpretation and project work for my next role. Reward and HR analyst have been suggested to me, however I am wondering if these will also be really data heavy/solo work? I am missing teamwork and collaboration, as my analyst work feels quite siloed.
If anyone has advice in this area, it will be most appreciated! Thank you, Yasmin
I think it very much depends on the organisation and HR team. I was a HR Analyst, dealing with reward, data analysis and HR system implementation and sys admin, for nine year in a medium size third sector organisation. Because of the size of the organisation I was the sole reward and information specialist so I got involved in lots of different things and worked closely with the rest of the HR Team. I then moved to be a HR GDPR specialist in a very large organisation and I was very siloed away from the HR team which I didn't enjoy at all.
Since then I've returned to generalist HR but all the roles I've worked in have made use of my specialist skill set - at the moment I'm an HR Adviser for a medium size charity but I'm heavily involved in a Pay and Grading project, modelling the impact of the changes to pay. We also have a HR Systems Manager and a HR Systems Officer, who make up a team with our HR Administrators.
So you could go one of two ways - look for a Reward/Systems role that seems well embedded in the HR Team (possibly in small to medium size organisations) or look at HR Generalist roles, but emphasise your skill set and willingness to get involved in data heavy projects.
