Hi all!
I’m currently working as a HR/People Advisor in the tech industry, with nearly 2 years in this role; before that, I was a HR admin and generalist. I gained my CIPD level 3 in around 2015 and then level 5 in 2017. Being part of a small team is great (I get involved in lots of different things and often have to just "pull my sleeves up" and figure it out) but it also means my experience is naturally limited in some areas - particularly as we tend to have a lot of performance-related issues, I'm concerned about getting a well-rounded knowledge base, and know how to apply that in various scenarios.
I’m finishing up a law degree at the moment (around full time work) and as that comes to an end and I'm taking stock of my next steps and general career satisfaction, I'm keen to become a more well-rounded HR professional. I've thought for a while that a mentor could be a good fit for this, and I contacted my local CIPD branch some time ago; understandably, given it’s voluntary and people are so busy, I haven’t yet been able to find a mentor. I'm looking for remote opportunities, which I hope opens up the scope a little!
I thought this may be a good place to start in restarting the search for a mentor. Any tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated :) thank you for your time!
