Transitioning back into HR from teaching

Hi All,

Advice on how best to make a transition back into HR after 6 year's in Education, as a secondary school teacher. I am an Assoc CIPD member. Prior to getting into education, my last role was as a HR generalist / advisor with roles in the retail and hospitality sector.

I'm currently in an a Middle leadership role within a school, which simply means i'm a head of a department. I've always been passionate about L&D but never felt i had the courage to purse this route when starting out in HR. I've thrived in education and got involved in coaching and mentoring of newly qualified teachers, as well as performance management.

My first question, is 6 years too long out of HR, i know it would be a lot for an ER based role, but is it likely to be a huge factor for L & D?

What sort of roles/companies should i be applying for, i'm not too fussed by titles, but know my experiences and skills are above L & D assistant level.

How best to sell my transferable skills at interviews etc.

I'm already research tonnes on here, due to visit specialist hr recruitment agency soon, and hoping attend a few networking events.

Any advice or opportunities to be mentored by an senior HR or L&D expert would be most welcomed

Thanks.

Erusi
