HR professional in the making!

Hello everyone,

My name is Natalia and I am currently working full-time as a Receptionist. I recently completed my CIPD Level 5 in HRM from ICS Learn and I am waiting for it to arrive :)

I would really like to work in HR, but I am struggling so much when it comes to job applications. Employers are hesitant that I don't have an 'HR-related title' in my CV, although I have extensive customer service and administration experience, as well as a BSc and MSc in Psychology and Mental Health respectively.

I would ideally like to specialise in ER and Employment Law later, but for now I would start from a generalist and entry-level position. Although not the best and most viable option for me, I am also willing to do voluntary work as I am really keen on entering the HR world! I am based in West London (Earl's Court) and am willing to travel up to an hour for work. I can also work weekends or handle part-time work on my own if needed.

If anyone of you knows an employer looking for someone like me, or where can I find job opportunities (apart from the job boards I check all day), it would be great if you could advise/let me know.

Wishing you a great day!

  • Hi Natalia,

Volunteering is a great way to gain experience in the HR world, you may be best contacting charities as they are more likely to accept volunteers. Alternatively there are volunteering websites you can look on such as do-it for good and Charity Jobs.

    Hope this helps.
