Specialising in Diversity and Inclusion Management

Hi there,

I wanted to know what people's advice or experience would be if someone wanted to enter into the world of Diversity & Inclusion Management? How do you break into such an area?

(I currently work in HR in a HSE hospital, have an undergraduate in Commerce, have just finished my CIPD HRM diploma and am considering starting a post grad in employment law later in the year)

Any advice or help at all would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi Lucy, if you want to get into D&I I would start by ditching the employment law p.g and doing something around the psychology of prejudice/inclusion instead. As a freelancer I can't comment on how easy it is to get into this area but it seems to me that most people move into it from another HR role. Having a relevant background is more likely to persuade your employer that you're the right person to do it.
