Quality of CIPD online discussions

This is my first foray into the mist of CIPD online discussions and I have to admit to being a bit disappointed with the quality of some discussion for debate.

Not to say that the items listed are not relevant but I think it would be better to have an 'advice section' for those individuals who have simple questions about practice to be answered?

Then the space for discussions can be recogised and valued more as one where real debate will occur.

  • Wow! What a discussion! More like Jeremy Kyle than CIPD!

I don’t think quality discussion here should be an issue. What I believe is a quality discussion may prove irrelevant to the next person. That’s just individual opinion.

What we have here is a community of practice (kind of) that is useful to all people in HR with all levels of experience. Sometimes it useful just to get the opinion of people external to your organisation to stop you becoming institutionalised. A case in point; a potential gross misconduct/dismissal case was treated differently as intended due to replies received from fellow CIPD members. It made us think of the case in entirely different way which was beneficial to all parties concerned.

I like it anyway and long may it continue.
