We have a new starter who has asked if we can help set up child tax credits for them. I am fairly new to HR and my manager has never dealt with this either. Does anyone know how we would go about setting this up?
I would refer them to Citizen's Advice or someone like that who is an expert. As we're not benefit experts, I wouldn't feel comfortable helping with something like that. I would worry that if something went wrong and the employee was overpaid that they would want the employer to be liable.
