Virtual Induction?

Hi All,

New employees will be starting next week and will be going through a formal induction with L&D, my question is what as a team can we do to improve their on-boarding experience while we all work from home?

Anyone have any nice or fun ideas to include these new employees to our current team?

Thanks in advance

  • We have a remote induction taking place currently, as well as running the sessions remote we have been having 'Friday Funs' the first week was organised by the existing team with a virtual Pictionary type game and this week the new joiners are running a virtual pub quiz. As well as that existing employees have been dropping in to remote sessions as an when they can and we use slack communication channels where the new joiners have been getting involved in the fun chat that happens on there too.

This is very interesting, Emma. I would like to pick up on the quiz suggestion but am unsure how to score it? Any advice appreciated.
  • In reply to Anka:

Pictionary, was via an online game we could all login to. If you wanted to use multiple choices you could use and app like Kahoot or Menti. Our quiz we had teams communicate via slack (you could use what's app or use breakout rooms in zoom) and then they added their answers to a team spreadsheet that at the end of the rounds we swapped with other teams for marking. We used zoom for everyone to be online and viewed it in a grid layout to see everyone involved.
  • Hi We've moved all the usual formal chats online via Teams.
We have a welcome party for the new joiners in which members from various international offices participate and get to know each other. We will also have a virtual cocktail hour which is locally focused.
  • Hi Elaine
