We’re investigating if we need a brand for our support functions and I wondered if you have a collective name for your support functions (HR, IT, Finance, etc.)?

Also, do you use the job title of 'director' within these support functions?

The collective group is 'Operations' in our organisation although they do also exist as People, IT, Finance etc. I've known them called Business Support previously. And yes, we do have 'directors' within these groups.

Professional Services as a collective. Individual Directorates (HR, IS, Estates, Finance etc) with their own Head, job title Director.

We had "Business Services" for a while, covered People, Finance, Legal and IT. The only director we had in that group was the FD, but we don't use director much in our business, it's "C" or Head of

Also depends a bit on your sector. For example, in a local authority these functions would be in the Corporate Services directorate. Some may be outsourced under a Head of Support Services. Agree with the COO references above.
