Sorry if this has been asked before but can you please clarify. I have been told that all of our employees in the EU need to have applied for the EU settlement scheme by end of January 2020. Is this correct as from what I have read they have freedom of movement until December 2020?

At the moment, EU Nationals have freedom of movement until Dec 31st 2020. They do not need to show anything other than their passport or EU National ID Card to demonstrate their right to work (even if they have already applied for Settled Status).
On January 1st 2021 they will need to have Settled Status as a new PBS will apply to all non-UK Nationals from then - therefore EU Nationals who are in the UK between now and Dec 31st 2020 have until then to obtain it.
