Withdrawing an offer of employment?

Can an offer of employment be withdraw if an employee delays the start date by several weeks then on the first day of starting notify us that they are unwell and has been signed off for potentially 2 weeks. Therefore making this a month and a half to the original start date?

    You may note from my previous reply there are some questions which get posted regularly - a search using that magnifying glass on the upper right hand side should normally be used first, unless its a very specific and detailed issue.
