Networking - Manufacturing

I have recently started a new HR Advisor role in manufacturing after previously working in the voluntary sector for a significant period of time and more recently in utilities.

I am looking to build connections in the manufacturing sector in order to increase my understanding and also share practice.

I wasn’t sure whether this was the the right channel to do this but thought it might be a start alongside using LinkedIn.

Thanks.

  • If your company belongs to a trade organisation it might be worth checking if they have a HR section.

As you have worked in several different sectors it has probably become clear that 90% of HR is universal. Yes, you may not be asked to help in line balancing in the voluntary sectors but might/should be in manufacturing, issues such as recruitment and skills development are the same.

One of the great things about manufacturing is just how visible the work is and therefore how easy it is to improve and the clarity of the business goals tends to be very high and easily understood.

Hope you have a great time in your new industry.
