Help shape future resources on workplace investigations

We’re exploring whether there is a need for new resources on workplace investigations and would welcome your views.

We are considering developing resources to support people who carry out workplace investigations. Possible areas for coverage could include legal requirements, good practice, and approaches to managing and supporting employees during and after an investigation. We’d like your feedback before deciding whether and how we proceed.

We’d appreciate your thoughts on:

  • To what extent, if at all, would resources in this area be helpful to you?
  • If you would find this topic useful, what formats or types of content would work best for you?
  • Is there anything else you’d like to see us consider,  either in relation to workplace investigations or other topics that are a higher priority for you?

Your feedback will help us shape future content and ensure the Knowledge Hub meets your needs.

Thank you for your time and your help!

  • I agree. Strangely I wrote a training course for my organisation on this topic last week, so that I could train the senior team here on the principles and best practices. What would help in this kind of area is not training for the HR professional (as we tend to know what to do), but resources so that we can share that learning with others - so an outline training session and case studies, or a guidance pack to share with managers, that kind of thing.

What I find unhelpful (but understandable) on the current CIPD website is how much guidance is embedded in member-only areas, and not downloadable - which limits any sharing of information with the people we work with. I totally understand that having information that can be downloaded massively increases the risk of it being scraped by AI etc, so I'm not sure what the right answer is - but in terms of usability, those are the things that would most help me.

    Hope that is helpful.
