Dear CIPD Community users,

I wanted to let you know that at the end of the year we will be saying a fond farewell to Steve Bridger, who has provided community management and moderation support to the CIPD Community for over 20 years now. I know this will be sad news for many of you who have regularly used our community. Steve has been a huge part of making it the valued member service it has become, helping countless people professionals solve their work and career challenges and guiding the development of the site as it has been through many changes. His expertise, calm and supportive approach, and depth of knowledge have been appreciated by everyone.

We remain as committed as ever to building this community as a place for exceptional practical advice and peer support, with our amazing Community Champions at the heart of it and a dedicated team (Michelle, Mark and myself) in support.

I am sure many of you will want to join me in expressing your appreciation for Steve’s outstanding contribution to the CIPD.

  • Thanks to Steve for his help promoting my posts
  • Noooo! Say it ain't so, !

Steve has had a ring-side seat to my professional evolution over the last 20 years and been a constant reassuring presence. Honestly, I had my doubts if he even existed as a physical human being or if he was simply a ghost in the CIPD machine, eternal, unchanging... and a very convincing AI model on a Teams call, now and then.

I can only wish him bon voyage on wherever his own journey takes him next and hope that his successor is half as good, as to aspire for more would seem unrealistic.
  • I am very grateful to for all his help as I entred the HR world, with this community being such a fabulous place to ask questions, learn and have a laugh/grimace at all the things that go on for a people professional.

Best wishes for the future, Steve!
  • Just ... thank you Steve. You're an absolute legend, and it's hard to imagine this community without your calm, reassuring and ever-positive presence. Thank you for everything.

    Nina

Steve you have made the CIPD Community what it is today, a supportive safe pace to share our experiences. Thank you, and all the best for your next endeavours.
  • Well now who will I pester when the forum stops me accessing the members-only threads?
Jokes aside, good luck for the future, Steve!
  • In reply to Rachel:

Echo everything said by eg Nina above!

All good wishes for the future, Steve as Mr Eliot said “not farewell but fare forward!”
  • Echoing all the good wishes and adding my own - Steve is such a great presence in this community and it's so very much appreciated over all the years. Thank you Steve so very much
  • Like many others, I am very grateful to everything Steve has done to create and sustain this amazing community. From my very early days and contributions as a student member (probably a similar number of years ago), Steve has been integral to this community's success.
All the best Steve and a sincere thanks for everything you have done for us.
  • I was really sad to hear that is moving on. he has provided awesome leadership to the communities and his calm, measures and incredibly knowledgeable approach will be very much missed. Thank you for all your hard work Steve and all the very best for whatever comes next.
  • Not the news I was expecting this morning, to me this community and Steve Bridger are one. He has been the staple through my own journey in HR, a constant who was always there.
I wish Steve the very best in what ever plans he has for the future and thank you for the past 20 years.
  • Thank you Steve for all you done for the Forum. It isn't an easy task and I acknowledge your hard work. I wish you well for the future.
  • Unexpected and sad news, but I wish Steve all the best in what comes next.

Thank you all so much. Being part of this community since we started in 2004 has been an honour and a privilege, and the kindness, generosity and support I’ve received from so many of you has meant more than I can put into words. I’m especially grateful to our Community Champions and long-standing members - your incredible commitment and collective wisdom has been so valued by me, and I know by so many of your peers.

Together, we achieved good things. We supported countless members through some very difficult moments, and we created a space that was safe, comfortable and non-performative - a place where people could simply be themselves. In today’s world, that feels like something truly special. Long may that continue.

I’ll carry so many memories with me. Thank you for everything - this community and the HR profession will forever have a very special place in my heart.

I leave you in the very capable hands of  and

    Keep carrying the fire.
