As someone aspiring to the lofty heights myself, my motivation is largely because the kinds of roles I'm moving into frame for tend to have FCIPD as, at the very least, desirable in the person specification.

Secret magazine (not v useful) More fee and the chance to use FCIPD if it helps you to gain/retain employment.
