Finally 'Chartered' via the Experience Assessment route!

So.... I have been an Associate member for years as, for personal reasons, I didn't finish the whole of what is now the Level 7 course.

I finally got my act together and decided to apply for the experience assessment rather than start the whole course again and still have to have the assessment!

Results are through today - and I've passed!! Finally Chartered!!  Such a relief!  We are going through an incredibly busy time at work and so much went wring while I was completing the assessment.  The hard work paid off!!

Won't be able to celebrate for a few days but definitely deserve a glass of bubbly!

So if you are thinking about routes - go for it - the timing is never right - and it is a considered cost!  But - I think it was worth it in the end!

  • Hi Miriam

Congratulations. I know it's not easy. I seem to be in the same predicament. I was unable to complete my level 7 with only one module to complete (Employment Law), however, CIPD have stated I have to do the whole of my 2nd yr again. With 2 very young kids this will not be possible and I've done them already so why should I do them again.

Would you think this is a good rout for me? I've been in HR for 10 yrs now
  • Hi there,

I was in the same predicament with being told that I would have to start from scratch which made me really upset after everything I had done. It was the that I learnt about the experience assessment... which I have to say I found for myself and it was not a suggestion made when I was told I had to do the whole course again.

But....I would definitely say that this is the right route for you....just like it was for me!
  • Hi there,

I was upset about the prospect of starting again and knew it couldn't be the only option which is why I searched until I found the EA route. It is disappointing that no one tells you about this when you are enquiring!

This would definitely be the route for you to take.

Good luck - and let us know how you get on.
