There are definitely a number of threads on this so have a quick search and you should get a range of views. FWIW, I upgraded on the phone and it was incredibly straightforward. I used the questions that would be on the form as preparation and made sure I had all my examples (including metrics) to hand to back up what I'd been doing. My preference was the phone just in case there were any questions about my submission: I figured it would be easier to explain in person.
