Experience of Upgrading Assessment to Chartered Member

Hi all! I am really toying with the idea of upgrading to Chartered but I am likely overthinking the process and starting to doubt myself. I have started gathering examples of my work and have done the pre-assessment tool but I’d love to hear from anyone that has done the Upgrading Assessment. In particular, how was the assessment structured? What were the questions asked? What examples did you give? How did you structure your answers? Did you have to provide copies of physical evidence? Thank you
  • Hi Rebekah,

Go for it, there's nothing to lose and a lot to gain! Once you have completed pre-assessment the CIPD will also review to ensure readiness to some extent to upgrade in line with the profession map.

It sounds daunting but answers are easily structured, I'm in the process of upgrading to FCIPD. When you receive your submission template it actually supports on how you can structure your answers. For the questions asked they're super straight forward. I listed details of evidence in my answers, but when uploading your written submission you can upload other supporting evidence. This can be presentations, KPI's, Reports, Policies etc. I gathered all into 1 powerpoint and uploaded that for ease. I have my 1-1 assessment this coming Monday, so have made notes for my ease to facilitate discussion.

    Good Luck.
  • Isma,
Great advice for Rebekah, best of luck with your professional conversation on Monday, I am sure you will smash it, I have mine scheduled at the end of the month so it would be great to hear how you get on with this.
