Previously shielding - adjustments

Hello all

I have a query regarding someone who had just completed shielding. They work in a nursery setting and are advising that their GP has told them they must keep a distance from the children at all times.

This appears to conflict with the guidance issued by Scotgov as they are no longer shielding? There are also few adjustments we can make due to the nature of the role, and the individual is not able to wear face coverings due to their condition.

Can anyone advise how they would approach this one please?

  • Bluntly if the GP has written a fit note with those conditions then you either comply with them or they are unfit to work and in normal times would be on sick pay.

If they haven't then you carry out a risk assessment and based on that have a conversation with the employee - probably after a referral to OH

You probably have the option till October of them remaining on furlough and many employers would be doing this

The difficulty is that may only be delaying a conversation
