Hi there,

I'm just returning to work after a break of about 6 years and am looking to get in to HR in the education sector - most likely as a generalist initially as this is what I was doing previously. Are there any good general guides or articles anyone could point me to start to get me up to speed with sector specific challenges so I come across as informed when it comes to applying for jobs.

Which bit of the education sector are you interested in Lisa? I'd say that they have quite different challenges.

I work in an independent secondary school, and the changes to the teacher pension scheme are definitely challenging right now. Teacher workload is an issue across the sector (there are government papers on this that may be useful research), as well as the number of teachers who leave the profession within the first five years.

Then there's running a school in the current climate re infection control.
