If a member of support staff is off sick prior to half term - do they still need to provide sick notes during the holiday period?

    Hi Karen, when was the final day of their sickness, i.e. the last day they were actually ill?

    Happy to be guided by more learned colleagues but if the period of sickness ended on their final working day then my understanding is a fit note is not required.

    Thankyou clare so if they were still off after the holiday would you expect them to provide a sicknote covering the holiday period ?

    Hi Karen, if the sickness continued during the holiday period - meaning their period of sickness has continued for longer than 8 calendar days - I would be expecting to receive a fit note.
