Unqualified Teachers

Hi all

Can anyone tell me if there is a limit or progression (statutory) for unqualified teachers UK  only).

a. how long can they remain unqualified for or

b. do they have a time limit whereby they must eventually obtain QTS?

Any experiences of this would be appreciated.

    Hi Tracey - I'm new quite new to education HR but am aware that one of our unqualified teachers has been with us for 6 years. He has been encouraged to obtain his QTS as part of appraisal etc for many years and I believe he is now thinking of doing this so he can progress financially. I'm not aware of any time limits around this but would be interested to know if there are any.
