I’m interested in knowing how many are in HR teams in large schools. We have one full time HR Manager and one part time HR Advisor working 4 days per week. We are a large boarding school with 400 staff. We fine it very difficult to get through the volume of work and feel we can’t work any faster. My view is we need one more member of staff, ideally and HR administrator. Any views welcome. Thank you
There are a number of posts on HR ratios going back years. So these might provide sone useful background. Someone mentioned that people manager also recently did an article.
Whilst neither of these will be specifically about schools - I would have thought boarding schools are such a niche area that general stats will be hard to find.
Most ratios are around 1 to 100-150 although there are wide exceptions and a lot depends on what is or isn’t included, nature of work, nature of workforce etc.
I always found the key to getting more resources is more to do with demonstrating the added benefit to business ( speed, tasks etc) rather than a few external stats.
