Special Educational Needs School Recruitment - Where else to go to recruit people who already hold QTVI

I am not sure if this is too specialised an area, but I thought it would not hurt to ask. Also, anyone else's ideas on how to overcome hard to fill vacancies would be greatly received. 

As an Educational HR consultant, I am currently supporting a large SEN Multi Academy Trust in London. Today, they have asked for support in recruiting trained QTVI teachers to work across three boroughs in London. 

It is already a difficult role, and as in outer London, we cannot offer the same salaries as those with inner London weighting. They have tried several options and reached out t the visually impaired forums and parent groups, but the applicants are not coming through. 

I am not sure where else to go. My ideal would be to mentor and train for the position, and in the long term, this may be possible, but the pressure point is to release the pressure and appoint someone already qualified with QTVI. 

Thank you in advance to anyone who may have a suggestion on this issue. I appreciate it may be a little niche for this overall forum.

  • If you can't offer a competitive salary, what can you offer that differentiates you from those that pay more? What makes your school a better place to work than the inner London schools that pay more? If you can really emphasise your unique selling points and make your school sound attractive, you might have a chance, but I can appreciate how difficult it is, if people can get a higher salary just by travelling a little further.
