We go with the "tell them, tell them again, tell them you told them" kind of approach with this.
It's in our
Recruitment Procedure - 5.6. The School will obtain references prior to interview where possible. This allows any concerns raised to be explored further with the referee and can be taken up with the shortlisted candidate at interview. 5.7. The School will obtain such formal or informal background information about shortlisted applicants as is reasonable to determine whether they are suitable to work at the School. As part of the shortlisting process, the School will consider carrying out an online search on shortlisted candidates at part of its due diligence. This may help to identify any incidents or issues that have happened, and are publicly available online, which the School may want to explore with an applicant at interview
Job pack - Please note that as part of our safeguarding policy, applicants will be required to undertake screening relevant to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service. Online checks of publicly available information will be carried out for shortlisted candidates, in line with KCSIE 2023.
Invite to interview - Please note that we will take up references at this time for all candidates invited to interview, where permission has been given. We will also complete a search of the online profiles of all candidates invited to interview.
Good luck!
