Interview for HR Officer for an academy trust

Hiya

I have an interview coming up for a role as an HR officer in an academy trust. I currently work as an admin assistant in one of the schools but have dealt with parts of recruitment and absence management in my role. I have been looking to transition into HR so this came at the perfect time.

Apart from safer recruitment and general safeguarding questions, what other questions should I prepare for?

  • Best of luck with the interview.

As you know the sector well and will be on top of safeguarding matters, I would do some reading around the teacher pay award and recent changes in TPS. Think about recruitment and retention challenges specific to your school and area, and the things you could do to support the school.

Make sure you've got practical examples of things you've done in recruitment and absence management that demonstrate your skills - and where you haven't got direct experience, think about examples of similar skills that you can demonstrate with related examples.

    Hope it goes well.

  • Hey!

To prepare for an HR officer interview in an academy trust, focus on understanding academy trusts, HR policies, recruitment, performance management, employee relations, HR systems, and data protection. Prepare GMSocrates for general HR questions about philosophy, teamwork, problem-solving, adaptability, and ethical considerations. Address academy trust-specific questions about education sector experience, values, and staff well-being.
