I’m currently reviewing a policy on career breaks and wondered if anyone has a policy whereby employees accrue holidays.
I know some career break schemes terminate the employment contract for the period of the career break and others don’t.
Any advice would be welcome if different approaches.

If the contract of employment continues to be operational during a sabbatical then holiday accrues. The only way to stop that is by a break in service (resignation with the likelihood of re-employment at the end - although not guaranteed).
You cannot formally agree with the employee to waive the statutory right to accrue holiday if they remain employed - statute trumps contract!
