Company sponsorship

Hi everyone, Would anyone be able to help me submit a uk visa company application? I have just had it rejected based on moving address, which is fine they have refunded the fee. The letter recaps what else was required, namely a structure chart, which I had omitted, but thought having someone who has successfully gone through the process and issued a certificate would be able to give me a little support with this Many thanks Julie

  • I'm unclear what you're trying to do.

The process usually begins with the employer applying for a certificate of sponsortship. This sets out the reasons the employer wants to sponsor an overseas candidate for employment and provides evidence that the employer is a real entity.

Once you have the certificate of sponsorship (which is a digital record, not an actual certificate) you pass the certificate number to the candidate who can then use it to make a visa application on that basis. A certificate is usually valid for, iirc, six months from issue (it might be less).

Typically, the employer pays for the certificate of sponsorship, but the candidate pays for the visa.

Am I right to assume that you're at the point of trying to obtain a certificate of sponsorship?

I think Julie may perhaps be trying to apply for a Licence to Sponsor Skilled Workers, which in turn will enable her to issue Certificates of Sponsorship for individual employees?
  • Robey, thanks for the reply.
I am applying for the license to be able to sponsor. We paid the fee to start the process but was rejected firstly because we changed address. So I wondered if someone was able to mentor me through the process which would hopefully mean we would get the license rather than a second rejection.
  • Yes that is correct Helen!

Hi Julie, I haven't any direct experience of applying to be a licenced sponsor (it was in place when I arrived in current organisation) - for something this important, if you are not confident you have supplied exactly what The Home Office requires, you may want to spent a little money on someone who can go through it with you and check your application.

We use The Westwood Organisation for support when we need someone who is accredited and qualified to help us - as they say "other helpful organisations are available" so you may wish to do a search. But here is the link to their website (I have no affiliation with them other than paying for their advice so hope it is okay to recommend them).

Ian Westwood is the owner and Helen McLaren the office manager.

Thank you Helen, I will take a look.

Hello there, Jullie. I hope you were successful in resolving this issue. According to my knowledge, it is preferable to include a legal firm with experts in this type of licencing, as there are numerous depending on the type of organisation, growth projections, and financials. reason I wholeheartedly concur with Helen's suggestion.
