Salaries in HR - downward trend?

Hi all,

Is it just me or does anyone else think there has been a downward trend in salaries generally for HR roles in the last 6-12 months?

I keep seeing HR Advisor roles being advertised at rates I would connect more with HR Officer or experienced HR Admins, and HR Manager roles being paid at what I would have thought were HR Advisor level? I am in the South East, and I also keep seeing London roles at rates I might expect to see outside of London. Or do I have unrealistic expectations here?

Eg :

Very large national company based near me wanting an experienced HR Advisor for 'up to' £26,000. (I earned more than that as an admin)

Business Partner role covering 4 counties - around £28,000

HR Manager roles - seen some advertising at £28,000 level, but up to about £40,000 as a general trend.

  • Not only in HR -other functions as well such as Finance. Supply and demand ? or Brexit related caution? ...we'd better not push the boat out too far, lest the business should take a bit of a nose dive in this period of uncertainty.
