Hi Kelly, as well as looking at the resources and links shared by Steve and Jacqueline and CIPD articles, there is a lot of research and information about the importance of the brain having time to 'rest', that includes sleep as well as doing other activities like exercise, meditation, hobbies, be with other people or be alone..... Sharing this with people, giving them 'permission' to not always be on and encouraging them to do other things can help workplace wellbeing and support people to find their own ways of switching off and having some separation between home, life & work.

ps we don't always need evidence to do the right thing.

In Ireland, a Code of Practice on the Right to Disconnect was drawn up and ratified by the Workplace Relations Commission, and was effective from April 2021. It provides guidance for employers and employees on their rights and obligations in terms of "disconnecting" from work at the end of the working day.
While this is based on Irish employment law and not entirely relevant to the UK or other jurisdictions, it makes for interesting reading and I have included a link below to the Code of Practice,

A lot of companies here are also adding to their email signatures the following:
"​While it suits me to send this email now, I do not anticipate a response or action if it is outside of your normal working hours"
