Struggling to find a HR role

I have one last unit to complete on my CIPD Level 3 course and i will finally become a foundation member!

I have applied for numerous HR entry level roles and have been declined all. Only getting through to the interview stage once and receiving feedback.

I was wondering if there is any tips on how to break into HR, I have only customer service experience and some experiencing of manging a team. I am feeling very disheartened as I really wanted to break into  HR and I felt that studying the CIPD qualification would help but it has not seemed to have made any difference.

  • Hello Nyla sorry to hear you are struggling to get your first HR role. Do reach out to your CIPD study centre as career development coaching is part of your course with some providers. If they cannot support you I am happy to have a chat and take a look at your CV. Do also look at the CIPD career tools and join your local CIPD branch as there are lots of events going on for CIPD students to help you with this. Good luck Jackie

Hello Jackie I'm sorry for the very slow response, I was not notified I got any responses on this thread. Could I send you over a copy of my CV
  • In reply to Nyla:

Nyla, once you have found a HR job, your customer experience and team management will become really useful skills.
  • In reply to Nyla:

Hi Nyla - yes of course - very happy to take a look. I think you can DM me here. Jackie :)
  • In reply to Ahead:

    Ahead, you are Jackie Allen?
  • Hi Nyla Did you have any luck with your job search and moving into HR? Congrats for completing your level 3 as I take it you're all done now? Clap tone1. I am also currently doing my level 3, got one more module to complete too. I too want to move into HR, currently working in an admin role.
  • Hi Nyla,

What I found useful was to draw on the things I had done in my management career which could be transferred to a HR career - knowledge of appraisal processes, recruitment etc.

I then got my first role through a recruitment agency on a temp contract which gave me the HR title.
