Where to start?

Hi,

‘I’m hoping for some guidance from those in the know. I a HR associate, I’ve had an extended period of maternity/parental leave (2 years) due to my daughter being very poorly. This past year I’ve worked as business manager part time for my husbands company, I’ve gained lots of experience but stepped away from hr aside from basic duties; health and safety risk assessments, developing contracts and a handbook, recruiting at a low level etc. I’m now wanting to return to HR but I’m not sure how to go about it, my experience is most employers aren’t keen when you’ve taken a step away. I’ve lost my confidence that’s for sure, and feel a little lost

any recommendations on how I can proceed would be great

thanks

Cher

  • Hi Cher, really sorry to hear you've had such a tough time and well done to you for wanting to return to work. Can't offer any specific advice myself, I'm sure the community will step in with some helpful and supportive ideas, in the meantime please look at this link for the CIPD website and the potential support they can also give you:

There's stuff about handling a career break and returning to work after a break. :-)
