Realities of Organisational Development Roles

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for anyone who would be willing to chat about the realities of OD / talent management roles in the UK, I would appreciate 10 minutes of your time.

I'm considering OD as a career after transitioning out of the Armed Forces. From what I tell from job boards etc it feels like a good fit but I'm genuinely interested to hear what corporate and public sector OD roles are really like, the backgrounds people have who work in OD and anything that isn't obvious from just reading job roles and searching around the CIPD website.

  • I'll echo Michelle's suggestion and also suggest checking out some of the core works on OD like The Effective Change Managers Handbook and This one too - Organisation Development:A Practitioners Guide for OD and HR. The CIPD mentoring scheme might also be a good place to explore this. Pick a mentor that has this experience and wants to give back and you could explore it that way too. Good luck.
