Hi Alison. I'm 11 days in now and I feel like I'm making good progress. I've completed my Self Assessment, I've nominated my colleagues for the Colleague Assessment and I am now on with the Impact Report, though only just started it really. I have my professional discussion scheduled as well.

I have just found out about this route of getting Chartered membership and have decided to go down this route. Andrew, I too have entered HR via a non conventional route and would love to chat to you about this, as I was slightly daunted about completing this having not had decades of experience in the HR arena and worked at senior levels in other areas prior to moving.

Just came across these posts. I'm well into the EA now, with a deadline of April 23. I've been delivering L&D solutions for years but usually in an IT context, not pure HR, and therefore finding it rather daunting. Looks like we're all in a similar position!

My deadline is Tuesday next week. I'm taking tomorrow off work to finish my Case Study (which is currently well over 5000 words!) I've completed all of the other elements though. I have more of a systems context as well, though also a reasonable amount of culture change and engagement, so finding good examples for a few elements has been a bit harder than I perhaps expected, but I've made it work I think!

Hi all. Just a note to say that the EA system is sending incorrect email notifications. I’ve had several stating that submissions were incomplete when they were in fact complete and confirmed. I’ve highlighted this to the EA coordination team and they have acknowledged the fault but I am still receiving erroneous emails.

Hi Andrew - apologies - I gather this was picked up and is being investigated.

Hurray! have just finished and submitted. Could not fit everything into 5000 words so I had to leave some things out but I figure you can't cover off absolutely everything. Deadline was tonight and I've just finsished at 9pm having worked all day on the implementation plan section. Exhausted!

Hi. I’m new to the forum and facing the final hurdle of my assessment with my professional discussion on Thursday. My anxiety is through the roof, I have no idea what to expect and am starting to unpick all of my submissions and seriously doubting myself! Any words of wisdom or advice on the general approach of the assessor would be appreciated. I have prepared the answers to questions as part of the case study presentation and have tried to pull together additional examples of work to support my submissions. I’m starting to think it’s possible to over-prepare!

Well done on getting this far through! My Professional Discussion is Friday next week and I just had a coaching session to help prepare.

A few things I noted down, which hopefully will help reduce your anxiety, because that's not great to hear!

It is the assessors job to put you at ease. They are not there to make life hard for you. The assessor's job is to find as much evidence to put you over the line. They will work in a structured way, and they will explain this to you at the start.

Read back through all of your written evidence and the case study. Remember to focus on the actual requirements of the case study, don't try to just prove how much you know about HR, focus on the rationale for your proposal etc.

Thanks Andrew. I have re-read everything and have prepared notes and further work examples. My presentation focusses on the 3 key areas I have been asked to cover and I have prepared some prompt cards rather than having to frantically search through notes if I lose where I am. I had a practice run with my Director yesterday which helped and have since been practicing with my 7 year old daughter who hasn't got the slightest clue what I am talking about!

This time tomorrow it will all be over!
