What level of qualification?

When looking at vacancies alot of companies state they want someone at least CIPD Level 5 or Level 7 qualified.  What level would the Chartered FMCIPD be classed as or would we just need to explain to them that there is no actual qualification, this is a level of membership that we have been assessed on?

I am currently L5 but looking to completed my EA for Chartered Fellow but would I still then just state I am L5 qualified as this could rule me out of roles I am experienced enough to do?

Thanks

  • Hi Charlotte

Someone with a L5 qualification but awarded FCIPD by experience assessment has been awarded that level of professional-body membership and not a L7 'qualification' strictly-speaking. Their qualification remains a L5 one but CIPD will have assessed that they are in their opinion fully capable of working at L7 - type tasks and therefore that they possess the necessary 'underpinning knowledge' to do so, as would normally be evidenced by an appropriate actual L7 qualification.
(as I understand it - may be wrong, but can't think so)
  • That's great and makes perfect sense. Thanks David!
